Ravi Zacharias on Meaning in Life

In his book, Can Man Live Without God, Ravi Zacharias states that there are four essential components to meaning in life. These are

(1) Wonder
(2) Truth
(3) Love
(4) Security

“When one claims to have found meaning, that meaning must coalesce these four elements. And all four are found in the person of Jesus Christ, who alone brings life meaning by meeting the test at every age of life. Not one of those test provides the answer in isolation. But taken together they make perfect sense.” ~ page 115

Re: (1) Wonder
~ Wonder is most readily seen in children. (Zacharias finds in atheism with its materialistic worldview to be one that takes away from wonder.)

Re:(2) Truth
~ A concern with truth is what occupies teens and 20-somethings. We move away from all the fantasy stories that we read as children and move on to truth.

Re:(3) Love
~ As we head towards the tail end of the 20s and move into the 30s, finding love becomes more important.

Re:(4) Security
~ As we enter into old age, security becomes our concern.

In Christ all of these are held together.

“And He[Christ]  is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” ~ Colossians 1:17
